(Isaiah 58:11 NLT) The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.

  1. New Things = Amazing Things

(Mattew 9:17 ERV) Also, people never pour new wine into old wineskins. They would break, the wine would spill out, and the wineskins would be ruined. People always put new wine into new wineskins, which won’t break, and the wine stays good.”

Brother, Worker, Soldier

Message Notes

(Philippians 1:27a NLT) Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.

(Philippians 3:17) Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.

(Philippians 2:25-30 NLT) Meanwhile, I thought I should send Epaphroditus back to you. He is a true brother, co-worker, and fellow soldier. And he was your messenger to help me in my need. (26) I am sending him because he has been longing to see you, and he was very distressed that you heard he was ill. (27) And he certainly was ill; in fact, he almost died. But God had mercy on him—and also on me, so that I would not have one sorrow after another. (28) So I am all the more anxious to send him back to you, for I know you will be glad to see him, and then I will not be so worried about you. (29) Welcome him in the Lord’s love and with great joy, and give him the honor that people like him deserve. (30) For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while doing for me what you couldn’t do from far away.

  1. Be a brother

(1 John 3:16-18 NLT) We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

  1. Be a worker

(Philippians 1:5 NLT) for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.

(Philippians 2:2 NLT) Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

(Ephesians 2:10) For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

God has given us the church a great mission … the mission requires a lot of work!

This is amazing work!

Work which God equips and empowers us to do.

But we all have work to do!

  1. Be a soldier

(Philippians 1:27 NLT) Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.

(John 1:12 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Don’t Let Your Joy Be Stolen! – Philippians 3

Message Notes
  • (Philippians 3:1) Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.

(Proverbs 17:22 NLT) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.

(2 Timothy 4:3 NLT) For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.

What was actually happening in Philippian Church? (Why was he giving this warning?)

(Philippians 3:2-3) Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh. 3For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—

What kinds of enemies were there?

.The Enemy Of Methods (How To)

(Philippians 3:14) I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

.The Enemy Of Doubt

There’s a power in believing

“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NLT‬

Servant of God

Message Notes

(Luke 1:26b-32a ERV) God sent the angel Gabriel to a virgin girl who lived in Nazareth, a town in Galilee. (27)She was engaged to marry a man named Joseph from the family of David. Her name was Mary. (28)The angel came to her and said, “Greetings! The Lord is with you; you are very special to him.”(29)But Mary was very confused about what the angel said. She wondered, “What does this mean?”(30)The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, because God is very pleased with you. (31)Listen! You will become pregnant and have a baby boy. You will name him Jesus. (32)He will be great. People will call him the Son of the Most High God, and the Lord God will make him king

(Luke 1:34-38 ERV) Mary said to the angel, “How will this happen? I am still a virgin.”(35)The angel said to Mary, “The Holy Spirit will come to you, and the power of the Most High God will cover you. The baby will be holy and will be called the Son of God.(36)And here’s something else: Your relative Elizabeth is pregnant. She is very old, but she is going to have a son. Everyone thought she could not have a baby, but she has been pregnant now for six months.(37)God can do anything!”(38)Mary said, “I am the Lord’s servant. Let this thing you have said happen to me!” Then the angel went away.

Heart of A Servant

(Luke 1:39,41-45 ERV) Mary got up and went quickly to a town in the hill country of Judea.(41) When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the unborn baby inside her jumped, and she was filled with the Holy Spirit.(42)In a loud voice she said to Mary, “God has blessed you more than any other woman. And God has blessed the baby you will have.(43)You are the mother of my Lord, and you have come to me! Why has something so good happened to me?(44)When I heard your voice, the baby inside me jumped with joy.(45)Great blessings are yours because you believed what the Lord said to you! You believed this would happen.”

(Luke 17:33 ERV) Whoever tries to keep the life they have will lose it. But whoever gives up their life will save it.

Let this thing you have said happen to me!

(Roman 8:8 ERV) Those who are ruled by their sinful selves cannot please God.

(Philippians 2:1-4 ERV) Think about what we have in Christ: the encouragement he has brought us,the comfort of his love, our sharing in his Spirit, and the mercy and kindness he has shown us.If you enjoy these blessings, (2)then do what will make my joy complete: Agree with each other, and show your love for each other. Be united in your goals and in the way you think.(3)In whatever you do,don’t let selfishness or pride be your guide.Be humble, and honor others more than yourselves.(4)Don’t be interested only in your own life, but care about the lives of others too.

(Mark 10:44 ERV) Whoever wants to be first must serve the rest of you like a slave.

Messiah (Christ, ‘the Seed’) – one to come to destroy the power of the devil and all sin, shame, sickness etc.

(Genesis 3:14-15) So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. (15) And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Messiah – Hebrew: ‘Mashiach’ – ‘Anointed One’.

(Psalm 18:50) He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and to his descendants forever.

3.Isaiah’s Amazing Prophecy (600 years before Christ) イザヤの素晴らしい預言(キリストの600年前)

(Isaiah 53:1-12) Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? (2) He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. (3) He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. (4) Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. (5) But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (6) We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. (8) By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished. (9) He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. (10) Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. (11) After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied ; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. (12) Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

4.The Key Sign To Show Messiah Has Come: The Virgin With A Child

(Isaiah 7:14) Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign : The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

(Matthew 1:20-23) But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. (21) She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (22) All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: (23) “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”)

(Luke 1:26-45) (ルカ 1:26-45)

Every Jewish girl knew this possibility (“Could it be me?”)

5.The people were waiting for Messiah (Christ) – (“Where is his coming?”)

(John 1:41) The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).

(Luke 4:25) I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.

Lifehouse – 15 Years On This Amazing Journey With God

Message Notes

Life is a journey, not a sprint – A pilgrimage – moving towards something God has shown us ahead.

(Psalm 84:4-7) Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. (5) Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. (6) As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. (7) They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.

– Complete The Work

(Philippians 1:6 NLT) And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

-3 Words That Sustain Me

 The Blessing Sustains Us

(Genesis 12:1-3) The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. (2) “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. (3) I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

The Vision Sustains Us

(Genesis 15:5-6) He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” (6) Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

The Presence Of God Sustains Me

(Exodus 33:12-14) Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ (13) If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” (14) The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Journey

Message Notes

(Isaiah 43:18-19)Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. (19) See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

See Yourself As God Sees You (Champion)

This Generation

(Psalm 145:4 MSG) Generation after generation stands in awe of your work; each one tells stories of your mighty acts.

(Psalm 145:5 MSG) Your beauty and splendor have everyone talking; I compose songs on your wonders.

(Psalm 145:6 MSG) Your marvelous doings are headline news; I could write a book full of the details of your greatness.

God Wants To Do More

We Have to Be The new Wineskins

(Matthew 9:17) “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved.”

The Holy Spirit Power In You

The Holy Spirit In The OT (Part 1)

-From The Beginning – God’s Activity On The Earth

(Genesis 1:1-2) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (2) Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Ruach – (Hebrew)

Pneuma – (Greek)

-breath of air

-wind of heaven

– spirit. a symbol of life, strength

7,000 times in Bible. The Spirit of God is God’s action person on the earth.

Spirit of God moved…

flutter, hover, relax, flutter (like a dove, eagle)

(likened to a dove in the NT)

(Genesis 6:3) Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

‘My Spirit’.

-We have a spirit (life given by God) too

(Genesis 2:7) Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

God’s Spirit came upon some people for a powerful moment in the OT.

-Othniel

(Judges 2:10) After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.

-Gideon

(Judges 6:33) Now all the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples joined forces and crossed over the Jordan and camped in the Valley of Jezreel.

-Samson

(Judges 14:5-6) Samson went down to Timnah together with his father and mother. As they approached the vineyards of Timnah, suddenly a young lion came roaring toward him. (6) The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.

God’s Spirit came to live in a few people.

-Joseph

(Genesis 41:38-40) So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God? (39) Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. (40) You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”

-Joshua

(Numbers 27:15-18) Moses said to the Lord, (16) “May the Lord, the God who gives breath to all living things, appoint someone over this community (17) to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.” (18) So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him.

-David

(Psalm 51:10-12) Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (11) Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. (12) Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

-Daniel

(Daniel 5:13-14) So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah? (14) I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom.

 -The prophets

(2 Peter 1:21) For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

The Joel Prophesy: Promise for all believers after Jesus Christ (The Messiah)

(Joel 2:28-29) “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. (29) Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
